MORRISANIA, The Bronx (WABC) — Police have arrested 47-year-old Ramon Reyes in connection with a double stabbing inside a Bronx apartment that resulted in the death of a 57-year-old woman and left her 40-year-old daughter severely injured.
The violent attack occurred on Sunday morning at approximately 7 a.m. inside a fifth-floor apartment on Park Avenue in Morrisania. Reyes, who is the ex-boyfriend of the 40-year-old victim, reportedly stabbed her multiple times, leaving her with serious injuries. Her mother, 57-year-old Rosemary Tapia-Bautista, was fatally stabbed multiple times in the chest and was declared dead at the scene.
The 40-year-old victim is currently in stable condition. Reyes faces charges of first-degree and second-degree murder, attempted murder, burglary, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal possession of a weapon.
Authorities believe that the victim’s two young children were present in the apartment at the time of the attack, adding an additional layer of concern. Reyes has a history of domestic violence, having been involved in an earlier incident in September 2023 when he allegedly pepper-sprayed his ex-girlfriend while her children were nearby.
Reyes was arrested on Monday and is expected to face further legal proceedings as the investigation continues.
