MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A 21-year-old man was arrested following a high-speed chase that started in Shelby County and ended in DeSoto County early on September 12.
Deputies initially responded to a reported auto burglary at Tapestry Forest Creek Apartments in southeast Shelby County just after midnight. When officers approached the suspect, identified as Jarius Henderson, he allegedly attempted to flee, forcing deputies to move out of the way to avoid being struck by his vehicle.
A pursuit ensued, crossing county lines, and concluded when DeSoto County deputies successfully deployed spike strips to disable the vehicle.
The car Henderson was driving had been reported stolen out of Olive Branch. He now faces felony theft of property and felony evading arrest charges in DeSoto County. Additionally, in Shelby County, Henderson is charged with aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer and evading arrest.
Authorities revealed Henderson previously served 49 days in prison for attempted theft of a firearm and property theft over $1,000. He was also on probation after pleading guilty in 2023 to aggravated burglary, theft of a firearm, and possession of a prohibited weapon — a modified .45 caliber Glock with a switch.
Henderson is currently booked in DeSoto County Jail and is awaiting extradition to Shelby County.
