SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A 29-year-old man is behind bars after allegedly impersonating a San Antonio police officer during a theft attempt at a Home Depot on the city’s Southwest Side, according to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).

The incident occurred on Monday at the Home Depot located in the 2600 block of Southwest Military Drive. Police say Emilio Carraman was caught trying to steal merchandise valued between $100 and $750 when store employees confronted him.

Carraman reportedly tried to evade consequences by claiming to be an undercover SAPD detective. However, when real officers arrived, they quickly disproved his claim and arrested him on the spot.

He was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on Tuesday morning, where he remains as of Wednesday afternoon, according to jail records.

Carraman now faces charges of:

Impersonating a public servant

Theft ($100–$750)

Authorities remind the public that falsely claiming to be a law enforcement officer is a serious offense and can result in felony charges. SAPD continues to investigate the full extent of Carraman’s actions.
