ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — Two individuals are in custody following a burglary Sunday night at Ridezilla, a business located on Kensington Court in Albany.
According to the Albany Police Department (APD), officers responded to the scene around 11 p.m., where they observed two males fleeing the business. After a short search, police arrested Malachi Orlando Smith, 19, and a juvenile.
Both are facing second-degree burglary charges. No items were reported stolen, but police discovered a set of bolt cutters near the fence, where the suspects are believed to have entered the property.
Police Chief Michael Persley stated that two additional suspects were captured on surveillance footage inside the business. APD continues efforts to identify and locate them.
Chief Persley credited the business’s security footage for aiding the investigation and encouraged other business owners to join the APD’s camera registry program, which grants officers access to registered surveillance cameras when investigating nearby crimes.
