Makbul Mansuri Arrested in Illegal Cattle Transport Case

Four Suspects Linked to Cow Trafficking Incident

by Ananya Mehta

An alleged case of illegal cattle trafficking surfaced late Wednesday night when a car carrying cows met with an accident near the Chandranagar BRTS corridor in Paldi. The Paldi police registered a case against four individuals and arrested the driver, while three others remain at large.

According to authorities, the incident occurred near the Chandranagar bus stop on the BRTS route when a vehicle allegedly transporting cattle for illegal slaughter crashed. Alert citizens and gau rakshaks (cow protection activists) quickly gathered at the scene, detained the driver, and handed him over to police.

The driver, identified as Makbul Mansuri, was taken into custody by the Paldi police. Investigations revealed that three additional suspects—Imran Sipai, Ajaz Kasai, and Nasir Dagara—were involved in the operation. The trio had been traveling in a pilot car ahead of the cattle-laden vehicle and fled after the accident.

Police said four cows were found crammed inside the car, transported without proper air, food, or water, causing distress and injuries. The animals were allegedly being moved for illegal slaughter. The injured cows were later shifted by cattle handlers for medical attention.

The complaint was filed by Aniket Shah, a Vastral resident, leading the Paldi police to register an FIR under sections related to illegal cattle transportation and animal cruelty.

Tension briefly escalated at the accident site as gau rakshaks gathered, protesting that illegal cattle transport to slaughterhouses continues despite enforcement efforts. Police personnel were deployed to maintain order and disperse the crowd.
