The Assam Police, in a major crackdown, arrested a suspected drug dealer and seized a large quantity of illicit drugs worth approximately Rs. 14 crore in Cachar district. The operation, conducted by the Dholai Police Station, led to the recovery of 40,000 Yaba tablets and 260 grams of heroin. The drugs were found during a routine vehicle inspection in Ramprasadpur. Yaba tablets, known for their addictive properties, are a combination of methamphetamine and caffeine.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the police for their efforts in combating drug trafficking and praised their diligent work. Further investigation into the broader drug smuggling network is underway.
In separate raids, Nijam Ali, 18, of Nagaon, was arrested by the Panbazar Police from a hideout near 4 No Rail Gate. Police seized 9 vials of heroin weighing 16.54 grams and Rs. 230. Another raid at Fancy Bazar led to the arrest of Arihant Ali, with authorities recovering 11.89 grams of heroin and Rs. 740 in cash.
Legal action is being taken against all the arrested suspects as investigations continue.
