In a major drug bust, Maitrivihar Police in Bhubaneswar arrested five drug peddlers on Thursday and seized 42 kilograms of ganja from their possession. The police team also recovered Rs 20,000 in cash, two mobile phones, and three motorcycles during the operation.
The Arrested Drug Peddlers
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Dillip Kumar Baral alias Dilua
Jitendra Pradhan alias Munda Jitu
Prakash Khatua alias Mithun
Rabindra Sahoo alias Bapun
Nicklesh Panda alias Papu
All the accused are residents of Saliasahi, Bhubaneswar.
The operation was carried out after receiving a tip-off, with the police team led by SI Sankar Bhoi laying a trap near the BMC Wealth Center at Hatiasuni. When the five accused arrived on two-wheelers to carry out the drug deal, police swiftly apprehended them before the transaction could take place.
A case has been registered at the Maitrivihar police station under Sections 20(b)(ii)(C)/29 of the NDPS Act. The accused have been forwarded to the court for further legal proceedings.
