In a major crackdown, the Nagaon Morikolong Outpost Police seized 20,000 Nitrazepam tablets and a significant quantity of cough syrup bottles during a Monday night raid in Bengenati.

The operation led to the arrest of Mainun Haque (38), also known as Bhai, who is allegedly the mastermind behind a drug trafficking ring involving school and college students in the region.

According to police sources, Haque had been recruiting local youth, including young men and women, into drug distribution networks, fueling addiction in the area. This arrest follows the recent drug overdose death of a young man in Bengenati, which had raised alarm among residents and authorities.

Police suspect a larger drug network and are continuing the investigation to trace others involved.
