MAITLAND, Fla. — A 21-year-old camp counselor in Orange County, Florida, has been arrested and charged with lewd or lascivious molestation involving a child under the age of 12.
The Maitland Police Department said it responded to a report on Wednesday from the family of a child attending a summer camp held at Dommerich Elementary School. The family alleged inappropriate contact between their child and an adult counselor.
The summer camp is operated by Discover After School, which rents the facility from the school. Following an investigation, police issued a warrant for Mahlyk Kordale Poole, who was arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail early Friday morning.
Poole appeared in court on Friday, where a judge ordered that he be held without bond and barred from having any contact with minors.
The investigation is ongoing and is being coordinated with the Florida Department of Children and Families and Orange County Public Schools to ensure the safety of other children at the camp.
