Jalahalli police have arrested two individuals in connection with a major gold theft at a jewellery store in Muthyalanagar, Bengaluru. The duo had stolen around 540 grams of gold, valued at Rs45 lakh, from Krishna Jewellers on MES Road. Police recovered 429 grams of gold from the accused.
One of the arrested men, Mahaveer Singh (24), was a trusted employee at the jewellery store. He conspired with his friend Kuldeep Singh (23), both hailing from Rajasthan, to carry out the theft.
According to the complaint filed by the store owner, Paras Mal, the incident took place on September 26, when he and his son left the store for lunch, leaving Mahaveer in charge. Seizing the opportunity, Mahaveer stole gold ornaments from the display and locker before fleeing.
Outside the shop, Kuldeep Singh was monitoring the situation, including the security guard’s movements. Once Mahaveer exited the store, the pair disappeared without raising any suspicion.
Following a swift investigation, police tracked the duo to KRS Railway Station in Majestic on September 29, where they were planning to flee to Rajasthan. Authorities arrested them and recovered most of the stolen gold. The remaining gold had already been sold off, and the proceeds were used by the accused.
Both Mahaveer and Kuldeep have been remanded to judicial custody.
