by Ananya Mehta

The Bheempur police in Adilabad district arrested a couple from Maharashtra on Saturday for allegedly abducting and trafficking a 16-year-old minor girl to a man in Rajasthan.

The accused, Nirmala (47) and her husband Bapunya Rajaram, residents of Kinhi village in Maharashtra’s Yavatmal district, were apprehended at the Adilabad railway station on Saturday morning.

Police said another accused, Karan alias Bhagavath from Kota, Rajasthan, involved in the trafficking, remains at large.

The arrest highlights ongoing efforts to dismantle human trafficking networks operating across state borders.
