OLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A judge has set a $2 million bond for Mahamood Hassan, 24, who is accused of killing 22-year-old rapper Ralan Styles over the weekend.

Columbus police responded to the 300 block of West 3rd Avenue shortly before 5 a.m. on Saturday to investigate an unknown complaint. Upon arrival, officers discovered Michael Robinson, also known by his rap name Ralan Styles, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hassan has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting. According to charging documents, several witnesses provided detailed descriptions of the shooter, which led officers to locate Hassan just a short distance from the crime scene. He was later identified by the witnesses in a photo array.

Hassan was arraigned in Franklin County Municipal Court on Monday, where bond was set at $2 million. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on October 29.

Following his death, tributes for Ralan Styles flooded social media. The rapper, who gained attention with his 2022 remix of “Baby Shark,” was remembered by his peers. “Not my lil brother man I’m still waiting for you to call me and tell me this whole thing is a joke,” rapper Lil Goat posted alongside videos of Williams.
