What was initially reported as a tragic accident has now turned out to be a case of cold-blooded murder. Juhi Devi, a 24-year-old woman whose body was found near the Tori-Chetar railway station in Latehar district, was pushed off a running train by her husband, Mahadev Singh, police confirmed on Friday.
The incident occurred on Thursday, and Mahadev had initially lodged a report at Dhurki police station in Garwah, claiming that his wife had accidentally fallen off the train. However, inconsistencies in his account raised suspicions during the investigation.
Randhir Singh, the officer-in-charge of Chandwa police station, stated that during interrogation, Mahadev confessed to the crime, citing ongoing family disputes as the motive for the murder.
Following the confession, Mahadev Singh was arrested and remanded to judicial custody by a local court on Friday.
This tragic case highlights the dark side of domestic violence and how it can escalate into fatal consequences.
