The Job Racket Wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested 36-year-old Magham Vinay Vardhan of Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, in connection with a massive overseas job scam. Vinay was apprehended at Chennai airport while returning from Portugal.
Vinay is alleged to be the mastermind behind a fraudulent job network that duped at least 193 job aspirants, collecting nearly Rs2 crore in the process. The scam involved promising overseas employment opportunities, which were never delivered.
The CCB is continuing its investigation to identify other members of the racket and recover the defrauded money.
