The Madiaon police on Friday arrested three members of a burglary gang responsible for a high-value theft at the residence of Fatehpur SDM Anamika Srivastava, recovering jewelry and cash worth nearly Rs 30 lakh.
Police said searches are ongoing for two more accomplices linked to the gang.
The burglary occurred around 2:30 am on October 24, when the thieves scaled the boundary wall of the officer’s house in Sai City, Madiaon, and stole valuables. The intruders also took the CCTV DVR, preventing retrieval of footage from inside the house, though external CCTV captured one suspect climbing the wall with his face covered.
During routine patrolling at Bhithauli crossing around 6 am on Friday, police received an alert that the suspects were heading towards Sitapur in a grey, numberless four-wheeler. A team intercepted the vehicle and arrested three men.
The arrested suspects are:
Zeeshan Ghazi alias Chhotu (22) of Chandakodar, BKT
Mohammad Arshad (25) of Abrar Nagar, Khurramnagar
Riyaz (28) of Paigambarpur, Mahmudabad
Police said Zeeshan and Arshad are brothers and work in glass installation, while Riyaz is a tailor by profession.
Madiaon SHO Shivanand Mishra stated that the trio confessed to the burglary and disclosed the names of two additional accomplices, Imran and Addu. All three are habitual offenders; Arshad alone has 22 criminal cases, including under the Gangsters Act. Background checks on the remaining accused are ongoing.
