A 37-year-old man, identified as M Senthil Kumar from Coimbatore, was arrested on Tuesday for burgling the residence of a government employee in Perundurai, Erode. The theft occurred earlier this month.
The victim, Chandra Mohan, works at the Erode Government Medical College and Hospital. On April 3, while his family was away, the burglar broke into the house and stole three sovereigns of gold jewellery, including a gold chain and earrings, from an almirah.
Upon returning, the family discovered the front door broken and valuables missing. A complaint was lodged at the Perundurai police station, leading to an investigation that resulted in the arrest of Senthil Kumar.
The stolen jewellery was recovered from him, and he has been remanded in judicial custody at the district prison in Gobichettipalayam.
