by Sophia Bennett

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Endia Walker, a 23-year-old Lynchburg woman, is facing additional felony charges following the death of her 5-month-old infant earlier this year. On Monday, the Lynchburg Police Department confirmed that Walker was formally served with a felony homicide charge under Virginia Code 18.2-33, escalating the charges previously filed against her.

Initial Charges and Investigation
The case began when Lynchburg police responded to a call concerning an unresponsive child. The infant was pronounced dead at the scene, prompting an immediate investigation. Walker was arrested and initially charged with child neglect after the incident.

New Homicide Charge
The recent felony homicide charge indicates that new evidence or information has been uncovered, suggesting a higher degree of responsibility in the child’s death. Felony homicide under Virginia law is applicable when a death occurs during the commission of certain felonies, such as child abuse or neglect.

Current Status
Walker is currently being held at the Lynchburg Adult Detention Center. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the exact cause of the child’s death or the factors that led to the escalation of charges.

This investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
