WEST MIAMI-DADE, FL – A man accused of orchestrating a luxury vehicle theft ring in South Florida is back in custody after being extradited from New York, where he was arrested last month on related charges.
Zakria Khan, 26, was taken into custody in New York on April 23 for possession of stolen property. Upon further investigation, authorities discovered that Khan was already wanted in Miami-Dade County for similar high-end auto thefts.
Khan had previously been released on bond in August 2024, after his arrest at Miami International Airport. Investigators allege he was the mastermind behind a luxury car theft operation targeting Miami Beach hotels and Brickell parking garages.
🎥 Surveillance Footage Exposes Scheme
Surveillance footage reportedly shows Khan involved in towing luxury vehicles, which were later hidden in a storage facility in Hollywood, FL.
One notable victim was Steve Phelan, a Texas resident whose $500,000 Ferrari was rerouted from Texas to South Florida and eventually stolen in Brickell. A photo uncovered by investigators shows Khan smiling and giving a thumbs-up while receiving the Ferrari’s keys.
“He was out on bond when he stole my car. He seems like a career criminal,” said Phelan. “Everyone is excited he’s back behind bars. It’s one less theft ring we have to worry about.”
🚔 No Bond This Time
Khan was booked into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in West Miami-Dade, where he is being held without bond. His next court hearing is scheduled for next Friday, according to court documents.
Law enforcement praised the interagency cooperation that led to Khan’s extradition and emphasized the broader crackdown on organized vehicle theft rings in South Florida.
