Green faces arson, burglary charges in connection with restaurant fire

EDDINGTON, Maine (WJTV) — A former Eddington resident, Luther Green, has been arrested in Alabama in connection with a 2024 fire in Eddington. The 42-year-old man, originally from Eddington but now residing in Banks, Alabama, was taken into custody on May 8, 2025, following a year-long investigation by the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Green faces charges of arson and burglary related to a fire on July 3, 2024, that caused significant damage to the Heritage on 9 restaurant and tavern. At the time of the fire, the business had been closed for several months, and no one was inside.

Authorities in Pike County, Alabama, assisted in Green’s arrest, and he was subsequently flown back to Maine, where he was booked into the Penobscot County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing, with no further details available at this time.

This arrest marks the culmination of a year-long investigation into the fire that significantly impacted the local community. Maine authorities continue to work diligently to bring closure to the case.
