EAGAN, MN (MinnesotaNow) – A drug deal in an Eagan parking lot was interrupted by law enforcement Monday, leading to the arrest of Luis Pablo Lopez-Velazquez, 26, and Christian Alejandro Montero-Gutierrez, 33. Authorities seized over 20 pounds of methamphetamine before it could be distributed across Minnesota.
The two suspects arrived at the 1500 block of Central Park Commons in a Hyundai Elantra, expecting to complete a meth-for-cash exchange. Instead, they were met by the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crime Enforcement Team, which had been surveilling the deal.
As soon as the transaction was made, deputies and partnering agencies moved in, arresting the men and preventing the massive meth shipment from reaching local communities.
The multi-agency operation included the Eagan Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and federal partners.
Authorities confirmed that the 9,126 grams of methamphetamine (just over 20 pounds) were packaged in individual plastic bags, indicating they were intended for widespread distribution across the state.
