Luis Cruz Homs Arrested in Nassau County Fake Cash Case

Man accused of using counterfeit money to buy phone

NASSAU COUNTY, N.Y. — A Manhattan man has been arrested for allegedly using counterfeit money to purchase a cellphone in Nassau County, according to police.

Authorities said Luis Cruz Homs, 28, met the victim in Great Neck Plaza in November after arranging the sale through Facebook Marketplace. The victim later attempted to deposit the $950 payment and discovered the bills were counterfeit.

Following an investigation, Nassau County detectives arrested Cruz Homs and charged him with possession of a forged instrument and petit larceny.
