NAPA COUNTY, Calif. — Luis Armando Alvarado, 54, was arrested early Friday morning after a seven-hour standoff in the Angwin community, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The incident began Thursday around 8:45 p.m. on Tobin Avenue near White Cottage Road N. Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call, but before their arrival, a fight broke out inside the home, and gunfire was reported.
Witnesses identified Alvarado as the person who discharged a firearm inside the residence. While all other occupants safely escaped, Alvarado barricaded himself inside. During negotiations, Alvarado fired multiple rounds at deputies outside the home.
A SWAT team, crisis negotiators, and officers from Napa and St. Helena Police Departments responded to the scene. Nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution.
After several hours, SWAT officers deployed less-lethal munitions into the house, leading to Alvarado’s arrest at approximately 4 a.m. Friday.
He was booked into Napa County Jail on charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. No injuries were reported among officers or residents.
