Lucknow police have arrested two individuals, Dhairya Verma and Maruf Asif Kasmani, allegedly behind a large-scale fraud targeting Amazon Pay and Amazon Pay Later customers. The duo is accused of accessing sensitive customer data through the dark web and the Telegram app, executing fraudulent transactions worth crores by exploiting these accounts for online shopping.

According to officials, the accused used a Telegram bot to bypass security protocols and make unauthorized purchases on various e-commerce platforms, undetected for months. The police recovered a wide range of items, including protein powders, mobile phones, debit and credit cards, and a significant amount of cash, reflecting the extent of the fraud.

Amazon Pay, a popular digital payment platform, allows seamless transactions on third-party websites, while its Pay Later service offers customers deferred payments or instalment plans. The accused took advantage of these services to carry out their schemes.

A case has been registered against the suspects, and further investigations are underway to identify other members of the gang and uncover their operational methods. Authorities are also investigating how sensitive customer data was leaked and exploited for this large-scale fraud.
