LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) — Lorenzo Reyna Jr., a former Webb County employee, was arrested on August 12 for impersonating a public servant and theft of property valued between $2,500 and $30,000, a state jail felony.
The Webb County Sheriff’s Office took Reyna into custody following an investigation into the charges. Sheriff Martin Cuellar expressed his disappointment over the incident, highlighting that Reyna had previously worked as a civilian staff member in the sheriff’s office.
“I am profoundly disappointed by this incident and, as a law enforcement officer, I am committed to doing what is right for both my office and the community,” Sheriff Cuellar said. “I will persist in my efforts to uphold integrity within my office, and these incidents will not deter me from ensuring accountability at all times.”
Reyna’s arrest marks a serious breach of trust, underscoring the sheriff’s commitment to maintaining transparency and justice within the department.
