ST. LOUIS (AP) — Former professional basketball player Lorenzo Gordon is facing a federal indictment, accused of falsifying applications for pandemic relief loans. This indictment follows the sentencing of his ex-girlfriend, Brittish Williams, who was sentenced to four years in prison for fraud-related felonies, including schemes connected to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Williams, who pleaded guilty to five charges in May, was sentenced in October. Recently, she was arrested for failing to report to federal prison in West Virginia.
According to reports from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Gordon is charged with three counts of wire fraud and one count of theft of government property. He is accused of providing false information on COVID-19 business relief applications regarding the duration of operations for two businesses, their earnings, and his ownership of a janitorial company. Federal prosecutors allege that Gordon unlawfully collected nearly $273,000.
Originally from St. Louis, Gordon played basketball at Illinois State and had a professional career in France, Germany, Turkey, and Israel. His current contact information is not available, and it is unclear if he has retained an attorney.
Williams first gained fame on the VH1 reality show “Basketball Wives” in 2014 while dating Gordon. The couple later broke up but shares a child together.
