City police investigating a high-profile robbery at a businessman’s residence in Kachiguda have identified Lokendra Bahadur Shahi as the prime suspect. Officials say Shahi, who is part of a Nepali gang, was also involved in a similar robbery in Maharashtra six months ago.
A lookout circular has been issued for Lokendra Bahadur Shahi, Arpitha, Depender, and Chathurbuj, who are suspected of drugging and robbing the home of Hemraj Dugar on April 20. After committing the crime, the gang reportedly fled to Sholapur, then continued to Pune, where they were last seen. Police currently have no leads on their further movements.
Investigators revealed that the suspects gained access to the Dugar household under the pretense of employment. Bimla, one of four individuals arrested on Friday, allegedly introduced Arpitha to the family without disclosing her true identity. Arpitha was placed there by Shahi as part of the gang’s plan, and he joined the robbery after the initial setup.
On the day of the robbery, Arpitha and Bahadur allegedly laced the victims’ food and drinks with sleeping pills. Once the couple was unconscious, the rest of the gang entered the house. Together, they stole 1 kg of gold and Rs70 lakh in cash before fleeing the city.
