A Perry man has been arrested following an investigation into an alleged home burglary and theft involving a former employer.
According to court documents, 24-year-old Logan Steadman is accused of entering the victim’s residence on October 31 and stealing $400 in cash along with two blank checks. When questioned by police, Steadman denied ever being inside the home.
An affidavit states that investigators obtained a search warrant for Steadman’s cell phone, which revealed location data placing him inside the residence shortly before noon on October 31. Authorities say the phone also contained a text message he sent just minutes later with a photo of the stolen cash and checks. Officers noted that Steadman should have known the victim was an older individual, as the person had previously employed him.
An arrest warrant was issued on November 19, charging Steadman with third-degree burglary, a Class D felony, and fourth-degree theft from an older individual, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was arrested on November 20 and booked into the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
