A 28-year-old man, Logan Michael Spencer, was arrested on multiple child pornography charges in Roanoke, Virginia, on February 24, 2024. The arrest followed an investigation prompted by a tip from the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce.
Spencer was taken into custody after a search warrant was executed at his home in the 2500 block of Weaver Road SW. The search was carried out by the Roanoke Police Department’s Special Victims Unit, with assistance from the Virginia State Police and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
Spencer, a former employee of the YMCA of Virginia’s Blue Ridge, has been charged with possession, reproduction, distribution, solicitation, and facilitation of child pornography. The YMCA, where Spencer previously worked in various roles, including after-school programming, expressed its commitment to maintaining a safe environment for children and fully cooperated with law enforcement during the investigation.
In addition to his role at the YMCA, Spencer is employed as a dispatcher at Roanoke County’s Emergency Communications Center. He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Spencer has also served as the Volunteer Chief for the Cave Spring Volunteer Rescue Squad since 2020 but has been suspended from this position following his arrest.
The Roanoke Police Department is investigating the possibility that Spencer may have had contact with children in the community and is urging anyone with information to come forward. The department is asking individuals to contact them at 540-344-8500.
