MÉRIDA, Yucatán — Llany Nery “N”, 35, was arrested on February 6, 2026, in connection with two complaints involving irregular transactions conducted through Facebook Marketplace, authorities reported.
Investigating agents from the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), working with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and the Attorney General of Campeche, executed two arrest warrants against Nery.
The first complaint involved a vehicle exchange arranged on Facebook Marketplace. The complainant traded a Mini Cooper and received a Chevrolet Trax SUV. When attempting to sell the SUV, authorities informed them the vehicle had been reported stolen. The car was impounded, and a formal complaint was filed.
The second complaint involved a woman who purchased a car through Facebook Marketplace and paid in cash. Days later, another individual claimed ownership of the vehicle, prompting a formal report and referral to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Following an investigation, Nery was located, arrested, and brought before the judge who issued the warrants.
Authorities urged the public to exercise caution when buying or selling vehicles online and to report suspected fraud. In emergencies, individuals are advised to call 911, or they may file anonymous reports by calling 089.
