A woman from Nova Scotia has been sentenced for her role in a series of criminal activities that spanned several Ontario communities last year, including vehicle theft, credit card fraud, and break-ins.

Lisa Laviolette, 38, was arrested in August 2023 and later pleaded guilty to eight charges. On July 17, 2024, she was sentenced to one day in jail, having already served nine months in pre-sentence custody. In addition, Laviolette was placed on three years of probation.

Laviolette and her co-accused, Tyler McPherson, 25, were arrested following a crime spree that began on July 15, 2023. Over the course of several days, the pair committed 43 separate criminal incidents across multiple Ontario communities, including Cornwall, Gananoque, Napanee, Centre Hastings, and Prince Edward County. The crimes included vehicle thefts and other break-and-enter incidents.

Several vehicles were stolen during the spree, and the pair was apprehended by RCMP in New Brunswick before being transported back to Ontario to face charges. McPherson, whose whereabouts were unknown at the time of the arrest, remains before the courts for his involvement.
