MARYLAND — A Baltimore man, Linnard Wortham, 41, has been sentenced to 13 years in federal prison for possession of cocaine and conspiracy to distribute it, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland announced on November 19.

Wortham received 140 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, plus an additional 16 months for violating prior supervised release terms, totaling 13 years behind bars.

Wortham was previously on supervised release for racketeering conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances stemming from a 2015 conviction.

In 2023, federal investigators targeted a Baltimore-based drug trafficking organization (DTO) distributing large amounts of cocaine. Agents installed a covert camera in a public hallway near one of the DTO’s stash locations, observing individuals entering and leaving with bags suspected to contain drugs.

On October 11, 2023, investigators watched as Wortham received a large duffel bag containing 19 kilograms of cocaine from another individual linked to the DTO. Wortham attempted to flee on foot during a traffic stop but was quickly apprehended.

A subsequent search of Wortham’s vehicle and phones confirmed his involvement in the DTO, with text messages corroborating the drug transaction.
