CHALMETTE — A Chalmette woman has been arrested for allegedly defrauding Medicaid by underreporting her income and household information over several years.
According to the Louisiana Attorney General’s office, 39-year-old Lindsi Melerine provided false information to the Louisiana Department of Health between July 2021 and November 2025. She allegedly concealed her marital status and misrepresented her household income to qualify for benefits she was not entitled to.
Authorities say Melerine obtained more than $119,000 in Medicaid funds through the scheme.
She was arrested on Thursday and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of government benefits fraud and filing false public records.
Officials emphasized that Medicaid fraud is taken seriously and that providing false information to obtain benefits can result in criminal prosecution.
