ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies arrested a Burlington man late Monday night following an armed robbery and shooting along N.C. 49 Highway in northern Alamance County, authorities said.
The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident at approximately 11:55 p.m. near the intersection of McCray Road. According to investigators, the victim reported traveling south on N.C. 49 when a blue sedan pulled out of a convenience store parking lot. The victim braked to avoid a collision but struck the rear of the vehicle.
Deputies said the passenger of the blue sedan stopped roughly 25 yards ahead, ran toward the victim’s vehicle while brandishing a handgun, and fired a shot into the left rear quarter panel. The suspect then demanded the victim’s keys and fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. The victim was not injured.
Detectives later identified the suspect as Lindsay Lee Massey Jr., 26, of Burlington. Authorities located the vehicle involved and executed a search warrant at a residence on Saconn Drive, where Massey was taken into custody. He is currently being held at the Alamance County Detention Center.
Massey faces multiple charges, including:
Felony possession of a firearm by a felon
Felony possession of a stolen firearm
Felony robbery with a dangerous weapon
Felony discharge of a firearm into occupied property
Felony assault by pointing a gun
Misdemeanor child abuse
Misdemeanor resisting, delaying, or obstructing a public officer
The investigation remains ongoing, and deputies have not released additional details at this time.
