New York man targeted Seabrook woman in PayPal fraud

by Sophia Bennett

A New York man has been sentenced in Rockingham County Superior Court for attempting to defraud an elderly Seabrook resident out of $20,000.

Li Geng Lin, 58, of Flushing, New York, was sentenced on Friday following a scam attempt that took place in June 2025. Authorities said Lin contacted a Seabrook woman by phone while posing as a representative from PayPal. Investigators determined the call was part of an effort to deceive the victim into sending a large sum of money under false pretenses.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about financial scams targeting elderly residents, particularly those involving impersonation of well-known companies.
