LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A 39-year-old man was arrested Friday evening in Lexington after he allegedly punched a woman and put his hands around her neck in an attempt to stop her from leaving a residence.
According to court documents from the Lexington Police Department, officers responded to the 1300 block of Hartland Woods Way around 5 p.m. on June 20 after neighbors reported a possible domestic violence dispute.
Upon arrival, police found a woman with a visible mark on her left eye. The victim told officers that Thomas Jacob Ralston had punched her and strangled her by placing his hands around her neck while holding her down on a bed.
She told officers she felt her oxygen being cut off and was frightened for her safety.
Ralston was arrested and charged with:
First-degree strangulation – domestic violence
First-degree assault
According to his arrest citation, Ralston admitted he attempted to prevent the woman from leaving and acknowledged it was “possible that [his] hands were around her neck.”
He was booked into the Fayette County Detention Center with a $5,000 cash bond. His court appearance is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Monday, June 23.
