Leslie Winter Arrested for Identity Theft and Fraud in Auburn

Attorney Claims Winter is Innocent as Investigation Continues

AUBURN, Ala. (WRBL) – Auburn Police, with assistance from Opelika Police, have arrested 48-year-old Leslie Winter on felony charges of identity theft and first-degree theft.

Allegations of Fraud at Auburn Restaurant
The charges stem from an investigation into fraudulent financial activity at Vintage 2298, a well-known Auburn restaurant. Authorities allege that Winter:

Issued multiple forged checks from the restaurant’s bank account

Illegally obtained $4,740.89 in digital currency

Court documents indicate that the alleged offenses occurred between April 19, 2024, and February 16, 2025.

Attorney Denies Allegations
Winter’s attorney, Barbi Agricola, strongly denied the accusations, stating:

“She is innocent until proven guilty. We look forward to proving her innocence and intend to take legal action against those who falsely accused her.”

Arrest and Ongoing Investigation
Authorities identified Winter as a suspect, leading to her arrest on March 12th with assistance from Opelika Police. She was booked into Lee County Jail and later released on a $10,000 bond.

The investigation remains ongoing.
