Leland Coleman Arrested for Identity Theft in Atwood

ATWOOD, Ill. — Leland Coleman, 28, of Lynwood, was arrested for stealing the identity of a 74-year-old resident, according to the Atwood Police Department.

Police received a tip that Coleman attempted to claim a package that belonged to someone else. The package contained a debit card, which Coleman reportedly used to make purchases across Illinois, including Champaign and Chicago, as well as multiple locations in Indiana.

Coleman faces charges of aggravated identity theft of a victim over 60 and has been transferred to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
