Laxmisagar Police Arrest 4 ‘Eagle Gang’ Members

Armed Dacoity Foiled at Mahavir Jewelers

Laxmisagar: In a swift and coordinated operation, Laxmisagar Police thwarted a planned armed robbery at Mahavir Jewelers and arrested four notorious members of the ‘Eagle Gang’ late Friday night.

Based on a tip-off, police raided an open field near Joka Pokhari on Canal Road under Laxmisagar Police Station limits around 11:50 PM. The gang was allegedly preparing to execute the dacoity at Mahavir Jewelers on Jagannath Nagar Main Road.

Upon spotting the police, the suspects brandished weapons, including swords, attempting to flee. Officers chased and apprehended Kahna Lenka, Omshree Sai Ashirbad alias Rampal, Baliya alias Balram Bhai, and Suman alias Bishwamohan Nayak. A fifth accomplice managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

During interrogation, the accused admitted to gathering at the site with weapons to carry out the robbery. Police recovered a substantial cache of items, including:

Two iron rods, a screwdriver, a hacksaw blade, a knife, a hammer
Two swords (khanda), two packets of chili powder
An empty liquor bottle, plastic glasses, cigarettes, matchbox
Torchlight and four black monkey caps

The ‘Eagle Gang’ has a history of criminal activity in the area, with prior cases registered against the arrested members at various police stations.

The search for the fifth accused continues as police investigate further. The proactive action has prevented what could have been a major crime in Laxmisagar, ensuring the safety of local residents and businesses.
