Two men are now facing charges related to a fatal shooting that occurred early Tuesday morning in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood. The shooting took place along Monticello Street, where a man was shot multiple times and later pronounced dead at the scene by responding medics. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity.
Lavelle Johnson, 33, and Shawn Collins, 54, have been charged with criminal homicide in connection with the deadly shooting. According to court documents, the two men were allegedly robbing the victim when the fatal shooting occurred.
Further investigation revealed that Johnson arrived at UPMC Shadyside Hospital with a gunshot wound shortly after the shooting. Police determined that the gunshot wound was caused by Collins’ gunfire. Johnson’s condition was reported as critical, and he was later transferred to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital for treatment.
Collins is scheduled for a preliminary hearing later this month as the investigation continues.
