LONDON, Ky. — A months-long investigation by Laurel County police has resulted in the arrest of nearly 20 individuals in connection with drug trafficking activities, including fentanyl and methamphetamine distribution.
Among those arrested is Paul Tate, of Lily, who is accused of accepting stolen items as payment for drugs. According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, Tate allegedly ran a flea market auction, using stolen goods as currency to trade for drugs.
Deputies reported recovering over $80,000 worth of stolen merchandise, which they believe came from victimized homeowners. “If they could break into an outside building or steal an air compressor, he would take it and either give them cash or drugs for the trade,” Sheriff Root said.
Tate was arrested on Monday but has since been released from the Laurel County Correctional Center. Along with Tate, 17 other suspects were arrested in connection to the trafficking of fentanyl and meth. The arrests mark a significant step in addressing drug-related crime in the area.
