MOORE COUNTY, N.C. — A Florida man has been arrested following a months-long, multi-agency investigation into a series of vehicle break-ins and financial crimes across Moore County and other North Carolina communities.
Authorities identified the suspect as Larry Ware III, 27, of Hollywood, Florida. According to the Aberdeen Police Department, the investigation began on Feb. 14, 2025, after officers responded to reports of two vehicles in the Legacy Lakes area with broken windows and stolen purses. Surveillance footage and financial records later suggested stolen credit cards were used at businesses in Southern Pines.
Similar incidents were reported in Pembroke, Cornelius, and other areas, prompting a coordinated investigation involving the Foxfire, Southern Pines, Pinehurst, FirstHealth Hospital, Pittsboro, Pembroke, RDU, and Fuquay-Varina police departments, among others. Authorities say Ware and other suspects were allegedly part of a “felony lane gang,” a term for organized groups traveling across jurisdictions to commit similar crimes.
On Oct. 27, 2025, police obtained warrants charging Ware with:
Two counts of felony breaking or entering a motor vehicle
Two counts of felony financial card theft
Two counts of financial card fraud
Two counts of felony obtaining property by false pretenses
Ware was arrested Dec. 29 by the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office and placed before a magistrate with a $25,000 secured bond. Authorities noted that two others were also arrested in Moore County in November as part of the same investigation.
All charges remain allegations, and Ware is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
