Larry Rollins Seeks Bond After Capital Murder Charge

Rollins Denies Involvement in Fatal Robbery, Seeks Bail

by Sophia Bennett

Larry Denzel Rollins Jr., 31, has been charged with the capital murder of Jamarcus McIntyre, a 32-year-old man shot on September 22. Rollins, along with Ny’Quan Cordae Lollar, 22, Demarco Nakia Beck Jr., 29, and Damien McDaniel, 22, face the charges following a fatal robbery.

The tragic incident occurred in the 700 block of 81st Place South, where McIntyre was reportedly killed during a robbery for his backpack. Rollins, previously acquitted of a 2021 murder, maintains his innocence, and his defense attorney, John Lentine, has filed a motion for Rollins’ release on bond, citing his longstanding ties to the community and his employment history.

Rollins’ attorney argues that he is not a flight risk or danger to the community, requesting that bond not exceed $100,000 per charge. The defense stresses that Rollins is entitled to bond, with Lentine emphasizing the importance of a fair trial and due process.

The court proceedings will continue, and Rollins is scheduled for a preliminary hearing. His legal team argues that the public narrative surrounding him may not reflect the facts of the case. Rollins’ bond hearing is set for December 5, with his legal team calling for a fair trial and questioning the evidence presented by authorities.
