STOKES COUNTY, N.C. — The Stokes County Sheriff’s Office uncovered a significant drug operation after executing a search warrant at a residence in Walnut Cove late last month, authorities said.
On Nov. 25, investigators with the Special Investigation Division, assisted by the Special Response Team, searched a home at 1070 Sapp Drive. During the operation, deputies seized 78 grams of liquid methamphetamine along with assorted drug paraphernalia.
Two individuals were arrested at the scene: Larry Dexter Sapp Jr. and Melissa Ann Johnson. Both face multiple charges, including:
Trafficking in methamphetamine
Maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Child abuse
Sapp was issued a $150,000 bond, while Johnson received a $100,000 bond. Both are scheduled to appear in Stokes County District Court on Jan. 21, 2026.
Investigators also discovered an infant inside the home, prompting authorities to notify Child Protective Services.
Sheriff Joey Lemons emphasized the department’s focus on protecting vulnerable residents, stating that law enforcement remains committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all citizens, especially children.
