A 71-year-old resident of an assisted care facility in Great Bend, Kansas, was arrested last week on multiple drug-related charges.
According to the Great Bend Police Department, officers responded to a narcotics complaint at Azria Health Woodhaven around 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, June 12. The call was coordinated with Central Kansas Community Corrections after facility staff reported resident concerns about possible drug activity.
Upon arrival, police detained Larry Carpenter, a resident at the facility. A subsequent search of Carpenter’s room revealed suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and evidence indicating a violation of the Kansas Drug Tax Stamp Act.
Carpenter was arrested at the scene and transported to Barton County Jail. He was booked and held in lieu of bond.
Authorities praised the facility’s staff for alerting them to the suspicious activity and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents within the community.
