A routine traffic stop in Laredo led to the discovery of drugs and a large sum of cash. The Webb County Sheriff’s Office reported pulling over a Nissan Altima on Rosario Street.
The driver was identified as Joe Edward Martinez, 44, who was later arrested after a K-9 unit searched the vehicle. During the search, authorities discovered 65 alprazolam pills—a prescription drug often used to treat anxiety—and $16,069 in cash.
Martinez was charged with possession of a controlled substance and taken to the Webb County Jail. The investigation continues as authorities work to determine the full extent of the situation.
