by Sophia Bennett

VICKSBURG, MS – Laquesha Davis, a Vicksburg woman previously linked to a 2021 murder case, was sentenced last week to 10 years in prison for Directing a Child to Commit a Felony.

Davis was originally charged with First Degree Murder in the shooting death of 21-year-old Malik Vallerie, who was killed on a basketball court in the Waltersville area. After being shot, Vallerie collapsed and died nearby in the Kings Community.

The case also involved then-15-year-old Demarion Reed, who stood trial in 2024 and was acquitted at age 17. Following Reed’s trial, Davis pleaded guilty to the lesser charge.

On Friday, Judge James Chaney handed down the sentence. Davis will remain in Warren County Jail until she is transferred to the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
