In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Assam’s Special Task Force (STF), in coordination with Kamrup Police, seized a large consignment of heroin at Amingaon, officials said.
Acting on intelligence, authorities intercepted a Maruti Ertiga (AS 01 BQ-5651). A detailed search revealed the heroin ingeniously hidden within the vehicle’s door panels, suggesting an organized attempt to evade detection.
The operation recovered 25 soap boxes containing approximately 350 grams of heroin, with an estimated street value of Rs 3 crore.
Two individuals from Churachandpur district, Manipur, were arrested: Lamminthang Haokip (29), son of Zamkholun Haokip from M Songgel village, and Ginkglholal Haokip (31), son of Lunjang from Tuila village. Both fall under the jurisdiction of Tuibong Police Station.
The operation was led by Kalyan Kumar Pathak, Additional Superintendent of Police, STF, who oversaw the interception and seizure.
Legal proceedings have been initiated, and investigations continue to trace the origin and intended destination of the narcotics consignment, authorities said.
