Jermaine Jerome Campbell, a 35-year-old man from Lakeland, Florida, has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for his involvement in distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine. The sentence was handed down by District Judge Virginia M. Hernandez Covington in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Campbell pled guilty to the charges on June 25, 2024. According to court records, the investigation revealed that Campbell was distributing fentanyl pills from his mother’s residence on September 15, 2023. Following a search of his own home just a few days later, law enforcement officials discovered bulk quantities of methamphetamine hidden in a tool bag.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in collaboration with the Lakeland Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney David Pardo led the prosecution in the case.

This conviction serves as a reminder of the federal government’s commitment to addressing the opioid and methamphetamine crises that have been affecting communities across the nation. Campbell’s sentence follows a multi-agency effort to remove dangerous drugs from circulation and prevent their distribution.

The authorities continue to target individuals involved in the illegal drug trade, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between local and federal agencies to combat the widespread issue of substance abuse and trafficking.
