Lakadganj police seized over 4 kilograms of ganja valued at Rs 1.03 lakh from the Ganga Jamuna area on Monday. Acting on a tip-off, officers arrested 25-year-old Rahul Dhiware, a resident of Itarsi in Madhya Pradesh, near Mehbub Baksh Pan Thela with the contraband and Rs 150 cash.
The seizure, totaling 4.154 kilograms of ganja, took place during a spot raid led by police sub-inspector Sagar Shinde in the presence of two panchas. Rahul Dhiware was taken into custody and charged under Sections 8(a), 20(b)(ii)(B), and 29 of the NDPS Act.
According to police reports, Dhiware was living in a rented house behind Jat Durga Mandir in Itarsi and is believed to have connections with local drug dealers. Another individual from Itarsi, around 30 years old, has been named in the case. Authorities are also searching for an unknown person suspected to be the source of the narcotics.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Senior PI Hemant Chandewar, supported by officers Narendra Waghmare, Mahesh Jadhav, Hitesh Rathod, Arvind Tayde, and Suraj Deshmukh.
Dhiware’s arrest took place on the same day, and investigations are ongoing to dismantle the supply chain and identify the origin of the ganja.
