A 25-year-old labourer from Madhya Pradesh, Arsad Khan Pathan, was apprehended at Ahmedabad railway station on Tuesday with nearly 200 grams of mephedrone valued at Rs 19.86 lakh. Officials stated that Pathan was found carrying the drug without any legal permit or documentation for possession or sale.
Railway police noticed Pathan acting nervously under the newly constructed parking bridge at the station. Upon questioning, a search of his bag revealed a yellow plastic pouch wrapped in black tape containing a transparent bag filled with cream-colored powder. The Forensic Science Laboratory confirmed the substance to be mephedrone, weighing 198 grams.
Along with the drugs, police recovered Rs 1,600 in cash, identification documents including Aadhaar, PAN, voter ID, and train tickets for travel from Ratlam to Ahmedabad and onward to Shamgarh. Pathan was arrested, and a complaint has been filed under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
